What’s Inside? Huskie Pride!

Welcome to Cardinal Local Schools! Over the past several years our district has made great strides in improving opportunities for students and making Cardinal a strong source of pride for the communities we serve. Some of the improvements and accolades include the passage of two recent levies, being recognized nationally as a Top School in the country, successfully navigating through the Ohio Improvement Process (OIP), completing a strategic plan for the district, adding more than two dozen college credit plus, honors, and advanced classes for students at both CHS and CMS, expanding our Kindergarten to all day, every day, and providing enhanced opportunities for all students in grades K-12 to receive daily fine arts instruction time.

Most recently, Cardinal was recognized as one of only four schools in the state of Ohio to successfully implement Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) district wide. These achievements are just small parts of the solid foundation currently in place to ensure a strong district for years to come.

The passage of two levies in 2017 (a new money levy and renewal levy) gave the district financial stability and allowed us to secure a bond to be used for permanent improvement projects. As a point of clarification, monies received from the levies are to maintain the day-to-day operations of the district at their current levels. Money received from the bond is only for building improvement projects.  To date, improvement projects include new windows and roof repairs at JES and CHS, paving of the CMS parking lot, enhanced security features across the district, and the renovation of space in the former CIS building for use as a science lab, conference rooms, office space, and technology lab. (We look forward to having community groups utilize this space for their needs in the very near future!) Future projects include updating the bleachers, concession stand, and restroom area at our football stadium and installing blinds in Jordak Elementary classrooms to enhance security and assist in keeping temperatures regulated. This is just the beginning of many exciting things yet to come for the students, staff, and families of the Cardinal Local School District. We look forward to continuing to serve you while providing the very best opportunities we can to help students learn, grow, and be successful in the future.
