π Teacher Appreciation Week Spotlight π
We asked our amazing educators why they became teachers and what advice theyβd give to first-year teachers. Here's what Mrs. Butler had to say:
Why did you become a teacher?: "I became a speech teacher/therapist because Iβve always been fascinated by how communication skills could build confidence and open doors, and I wanted to help others develop that skill. Teaching communication skills allows me to combine my love for language with a desire to empower students to express themselves clearly and confidently."
My advice to new teachers: "My advice to a new speech teacher/therapist would be: focus on creating a safe, supportive environment where students feel confident. Many students fear communicating and/or public speaking, so your encouragement is just as important as your instruction. Also, remember that improvement takes timeβcelebrate small victories and goals met. Youβre not just teaching them how to speakβyouβre helping them find the confidence for their voices to be heard."
Thank you, Mrs. Butler for inspiring our students and making a difference every day! ππ #TeacherAppreciationWeek #ThankATeacher #HuskiePride
