🔧✨ District Master Facilities Plan Update! ✨🔧
We are excited to share the second edition of our summer updates for the district's Master Facilities Plan. Here’s what’s happening this month:
Playground Installation at Cardinal Elementary: The installation of equipment is continuing! Here are some of the new pieces of equipment that K-6 grade students will get to use, along with some pieces from Jordak’s old playground. We can’t wait to see our students back on campus and enjoying the equipment!
Office Upgrades at Cardinal Elementary: Check out the photos below for a sneak peak of some of the upgrades being made to the main office at Cardinal Elementary School. We will now have three separate offices in the main entrance and several others near the guidance area. The guidance area has also been remodeled.
Student Service Center at Jr./Sr. High School: This center will now house six new offices for our students and staff. Earlier this week some furniture has been moved in. The Student Service Center will be a great resource for our students!
Stay tuned throughout the summer for more updates and photos as we continue to improve our facilities for a fantastic new school year!

We are excited to announce our 3rd Annual Back-to-School Bash will be Saturday, August 10, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at the Jr./Sr. High School Sports Complex!
There are MANY exciting things planned and we will announce them as the date gets closer. For now, mark it on your calendar 😉

Six Cardinal Elementary students represented Cardinal Local Schools at the 2024 Ohio Choral Directors Association (OCDA) Treble Honor Choir on Monday, June 24, 2024. These six students rehearsed with other nominated singers from all over the state of Ohio at Capital University in Bexley, and eventually culminated in a final concert at the end of the day. This extraordinary opportunity was led by guest conductor, Dr. Elizabeth Hainrihar, Assistant Professor of Music and Director of Choral Activities at Wittenberg University.
Congratulations Addison C., Andi F., Olivia F., Emberlyn L., Vanessa S., and Harper T.
We are always so proud of our Huskies! 🐾❤ We will include some videos in the comments below.

We're excited to announce that the elimination of these fees aims to boost student participation in all extracurricular activities.
Thanks to the District's ongoing commitment to right-sizing and financial oversight, we look forward to continuing to offer these opportunities in 2025 and beyond!

As we wrap up June, there are several exciting updates to share with our Cardinal Local Schools community.
Firstly, congratulations once again to the Class of 2024! We are immensely proud of your accomplishments and wish you the best in your future endeavors.
We are also thrilled to welcome our new Huskies for the 2024-2025 academic year: Alessandra Diblasio, Melissa Ellis, Catherine Kasdan, Sarah LaMantia, Joshua Lozier, Karyn Mazzolini, Alison Tomasic, Richard Turner, Brittney Wilson, and Lauren Zetts. We look forward to seeing the positive impact you'll make in our schools.
A special congratulations to Coach Wolf on his induction into the NEOBCA Hall of Fame. This prestigious honor was bestowed upon him during the annual all-star baseball game at Canal Park in Akron.
In other great news, our district has secured a $45,000 school bus purchase grant from the State of Ohio, covering nearly half of the cost for a much-needed upgrade to our transportation department. Since August, we've added five new school buses, significantly enhancing our transportation services.
Lastly, at the December 13, 2023 meeting, the Cardinal Board of Education approved donations from the Cardinal Athletic Boosters to eliminate all school and extracurricular activity fees for grades 7-12, with the Board covering the remaining expenses. This initiative aims to boost student participation in extracurricular activities and reflects the district's commitment to financial oversight, benefiting students and families by providing greater access to these opportunities. Thank you to all that have supported these efforts; truly remarkable!
Thank you for your continued support and engagement with our district. Enjoy your summer, Huskies!
Warm regards,
Jack Cunningham
Superintendent, Cardinal Local Schools

Stay safe and enjoy your summer to the fullest with these essential tips!
Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water throughout the day, especially when spending time outdoors, to avoid dehydration and heat exhaustion.
Use Sun Protection: Apply sunscreen with at least SPF 30, wear protective clothing, hats, and sunglasses, and try to stay in the shade during peak sun hours (10 a.m. to 4 p.m.) to prevent sunburn and skin damage.
Practice Water Safety: Always swim with a buddy, ensure an adult is supervising if children are swimming, and follow safety rules at pools, lakes, and beaches to prevent drowning and water-related accidents.
